Welcome to Iowa Organic Farms!  We're heading into our second year of operations.  It will be a little a little easier than the first year (having that experience under our belts).  We are still working on getting the pages on this site designed and posted, so please bear with us.

We won't have most of our products ready to go until 2010, unfortunately.  The condition of the market and economy have delayed our site purchase until next year.  Once we have final site selection completed, we'll get  things planted.  Of course, we will be employing natural, organic methods.  There is a restriction on organic certification that requires the land to be organic for 3 years before formal certification can be granted.  Rest assured, we will be operating according to organic requirements, even if we can't achieve formal certification or use the organic seal for several years.

This year we have 15 bee hives to produce honey and other apiary products.  Since most of the bees have drawn out their beeswax comb last year, their time and energy this year will go into nectar collection and honey production.  At some point (either 2010 or 2011), we will be adding more hives to bring our total to between 20 and 25, which will be the most we plan on having on a consistent basis.  This year, we expect to product enough honey to start establishing our presence at local farmers' markets.

Feel free to look around our site, bookmark us,  and come back now and again to see what's changed and what natural and organic products we can offer you.
